Gratz on completing the level 1 SoE Epic Arc.
All of the Epic Arcs can be completed every 90 days. In my opinion they all have a great story plot and give some good rewards.
I was in a rigged T2 / Faction fit Tech 1 Rifter Frigate the first time I did the Level 1 SoE Epic Arc. After that I ran it a few times in a rigged T2 / Faction fit Tech 2 Force Recon Rapier Cruiser. I actually liked using the Frigate which required a bit more piloting tactics than what was needed when using the Force Recon Cruiser. However since I was looking to complete the arc asap I used the Force Recon Cruiser.
Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Sobaan Tali wrote: That reminds me, actually. There's a mission where you land and see a number of 1mil+ battleships and a bunch of elite cruisers and frigs (Serps and Angels I think?) and a Minmatar carrier shows up. It's suppose to be non-com, one of those ops where you simply wait out the trigger and leave without engaging, but I've always wondered if there's any point to trying to kick the hornet's nest in that mission and try to blap the carrier. Are there any noteworthy threats like neuts from the carrier? Or could I theoretically hop in a Golem and just smoke them without issue? I'm pretty sure people did that in the past, but I honestly don't remember if I'm even thinking of the same mission.
Yeah, that's during the Minmatar section of the Epic Arc. You can make a lot of ISK on the bounty's there if you're an experienced pilot flying something bigger than a Frigate. The entire fleet, except for the stolen Carrier, will attack when provoked and does various forms of Ewar. The Carrier will only aggro due to proximity or if attacked and will definitely Neut you. It has a very large amount of HP's and no loot is dropped from the Carrier, however it does give quite a bit of salvage.
The first time I engaged that fleet I used an Arty Hurricane, barely was able to tank the fleet and had to call in a friend. I just led them around while my friend picked off enough NPC's from the rear of the line so I could actually engage the fleet. We didn't engage the stolen Carrier for fear of getting Faction standing hits.
The next time I ran that Arc, I used a T3 Cruiser and basically destroyed the fleet solo, then tried to engage the Carrier and got Neuted really bad. I called in a friend who used a Tempest Battleship to do Shield and Capacitor Repair on my Loki Strategic Cruiser while I attacked the Carrier. After the Carrier was destroyed, another friend was called in to actually salvage it. Took quite a while to complete and we were starting to think it couldn't be salvaged. When it finally did salvage, the on-screen graphics of the Carrier wreck decomposing totally blew us away and was definitely a site to behold, one I will never forget.

It can be done. I did it. It was real. I was there.

No Faction standing hit for attacking and destroying the stolen Carrier. Lot's of loot, salvage and Bounty ISK from the fleet.
I make it a point to always engage that fleet when the mission - An Eye on Everything - comes up. That's the only chance to engage them since the very next mission - The Uses of Force - has you courier info for NPC's to draw the fleet away. The next mission - Goading the Leader - has the NPC fleet warp out leaving a few small class ships to guard the Pirate Base.

The Larold wrote: What was the salvage itself like?
Well, the experience I related was from over a year ago which was the last time I actually ran that arc. I don't exactly remember what salvage was gained from the Carrier wreck. I do know there wasn't any T2 salvage materials, just various types of T1 salvage materials and Metal Scraps.
I don't know what type of salvage loot is gained from the wreck now. Nobody can say exactly what type of salvage loot is gained since loot tables are all based on RNG which CCP is constantly readjusting.
